“respectable” anarchists

toallow a “repeat of Seattle.” This means, of course, no more rookie
<0ps. no more running out of tear gas and rubber bullets, a massive
multi-layered police presence, infiltrators, cointelpro fargettings of
“leaders.” Latin-style stadium defention centers at the ready for the
masses of people 1o be rounded up, unpresedented huge bails and
outrageously serious charges, coordinated sadism for those
incarcerated, shoot-to-kill orders at the handy, a shredding of the
pretense of civil rights or the rule of law" for demonstrators, a
thoroughly stroked and sound-bite fed mainstream media and a cowed.

murderers talking with quivvering lips about how compassionate and
freedom-loving they are or saon will be. Vomitous! Women and -
“minorities* dressed all up going along with this absolute profanity,

The U.$. rushed in to prevent the election
in 1954. They knew Ho Chi Minh would win and
they were on the side of their colonizers -
France. As the Vietnamese defeated the Franch,
the U.$. stepped in with a vengenace. Never
having a legitimate stake in the area, tha U.$.
none-the-less was determined to “stop
communism.”

Years and years of assaulting Vietnam with
every type of weaponry short of nuclear bomb:
v the U.$. lose, leaving with its tail between

its legs. Vietnam was utterly laid waste, as
was Laos and Cambodia. Several million people
were murdered, crippled and the environment was
poisoned and destroyed for future generations.
Dioxin was (and still is) everywhere causing
cancers, hideous birth defects, suffering.
: Bombs continue to explode, everyday. The paltry
$3 billion promised by the U.$. to rebuild the

- ruined subcontinent was reneged on. Not a penny
was ever given to atone for these collosal

crimes. And the genocidal achitects of this
long-term, state-directed madness? According to
Henry Kissinger, “We should have never been
there, but that’s history.” He's now a fawned
over millionaire, “elder statesman” of the
Republican party, instead of a hung-in-disgrace
Mussolini style monstrous memory. Every page of
every book in the Nixon Library is drenched in
“blood.

The in-field killers were brought home to
train torturers and murder people and destroy
other countries. Vietnam wasn’t the only place
ctney were busy in the sixties, either. They
helped Suharto round up and mas
1/2 million “communists” in Indonesia.
Democracy in action. The Vietnamese were left
to try to subsist in their beyond poisoned
homeland. Americans cried about Agent Orange’s

effects on American GI's and their children, but
didn’t give a damn or ever even think about the
impact on those that must spend their entire §
lives in this Chernobyl - not just one,
protected year. The victims were to blame.

We're supposed to remain bitter over non-
existent “POW/MIA’s.” After all, their flag
flies at police stations everywhere, as the
enforcement authorities round up black children
for clinical incarceration.

Dow Chemical, Boeing, General Motors, and
countless other Krupp-like companies made
obscene profits during the Vietnam War, so
“American Interests” were duly served. All was
not lost, at least on corporate balance sheets.

Afterwards, the American Death Machine
licked its wounds by covertly subverting
countries and sowing death in places like
Africa, Asia, Central and South America. We
felt we had done our personal share of the
murdering, so the “burden” would now be
transferred to local fascist death squads and
official puppet militari We would train
them. This was known as “Vietnamization.”

A big problem arose The longstanding
bogeyman - “International Communism” (the Soviet
“Empire”) collapsed under the weight of its own
contradictions and the seven decade-long assault
from the West. What to do? There was talk of a
“peace dividend!” This, of course, could not
and would not tolerated.

New enemies were conjured up. “Terrorists,
Rogue States, Drug Dealers, Gangs” etc. were
screamed about so shrilly, that Julius Streicher
would have been impressed. They weren’t “Jews”
or “Communists” particularly, but hey! Things
had changed and these were the dangers of the
New World Genocidal Order.

Enter Saddam. His life-long ambition in
life was to make Stalin look like a choirboy.

He was loved by the U.§. because he relishes
nurdering Arabs, at home and nearby. He was

unquestioningly embraced by arms suppliers. |
Chemical, biological weapons? No problem!
Whatever you want, you can have, as long as you
keep killing Arabs, lay off Israel and keep the
cheap oil flowing Westward.

But that wasn’t good enough for the U.$.
military madmen. We had to test our new
weapons, use up our stock, work the military,
get medals and promotions and get those
contracts flowing. We had to go in there
ourselves and “do some damage.” So, we set up
Saddam. He couldnt take Iran. After all, we
supplied them, too! But he could handle Kuwait,
which was part of Iraq, until Winston Churchill
stold it, years back. “Badder-than-Stalin”
meekly asked the U.§. Ambassador in Baghdad if
invading Kuwait would be “ok.” “Yeah, sure. Go
‘head! Think we care? Did we care when you
gassed the Kurds - with our gas???” So, he did.

“Uh, oh... Bad, Saddam. OK. Here’s our
big opportunity. This guy’s perfect! Whip up
the media, drag in the U.N. (for ‘legitimacy’)
gear up and unload. We’'ll go off, bigtime, but
leave him in there. He’'s too useful. Then,
we’1l choke them to death, from then on. We’ll
kill all the children! It’'ll be like Nagasaki,
everyday! Nobody'll do anything! We’ll all be
richt”

What about NATO? They’ve got a lot of
inventory. We’ve got to gat them activated.

the open and grotesque, such as the overstuffed shirts of the IMF
and the World Bank claiming to be “working to help the poor” as
their riot goons club and gas folks outside, to the insidious daily
mind-altering of the ubiquitous image box, the lying is relentless

“Correctional facilities” house their kidnap victims in “dorms.”
Come and sleep over - for the rest of your ruined lives! The
criminal “INS” system will keep you safe and locked-up tight,
sshile those in the “outs” cringe behind triple padiocked burglar

Little Havana, 1s where Little Elion enjoyed his freedom (in a
closet, ala Patly Hearst!) until the state gun-wiclders plucked him
from the squealers for freedom. And what of the glorious

freedom” that they enjoy? Well, like all the rest of America, it's
a completely commadified society based on capitalst greed, which
also happens Lo be the home-away from-home for South and
Central American dictators and their right-wing death squads.

“Drugs are bad.” They tell us. But, what are “diugs?” “Bad
drugs” are what they tell us they are - the ones they've made
illegal, such as pot, cocaine, LSO and heroin. They all used to be
legal. The government, the police, the courts, prisons and big

. banks make an enormous amount of money on these drugs,
either directly or via their punishment industry. Drugs, like
everything else, are chemicals, compounds made from elements,
molecules and atoms. They are variously benign &/or harmful.
The most deadly, toxic and poisonous substances on Earth are
the creation of and the exclusive possession of the state, who use
them to threaten people with. Now that Is truly dangerous!
Some drugs grow directly out of the ground, like marijuana and
have been used by people for thousands of years and are
incredibly useful and often very harmless. Many others are
created by profit-seeking companies to foist on people, killing

* many of them every year. What is classified as "legal” and
“illegal” is completely arbitrarily delermined by government
change invariably to make more money for the enforcement
authorities. 1t's an absolute divorced-from-reality farce,
underscored by the threat and use of guns, clubs, handcuffs,
bomb-laden airplanes, etc. Bullies and liars use force to get their
way and keep their stolen possessions and always have. But,
never has it occurred so piously and pitilessly as in present day
paradise - Amerikkka! Orwell and Hitler would both be retching!

Recently, the Chicago Tribune ran a headline entitied, ~ '>
“Massacre Uncovered.” Lo and behold, the U.$.’s South Korean
puppets had marched a lot of peasants to ditches and put bullets
Into their heads, killing them. Then, they went for more. This
happened over an extended period in many areas, while U.S.
forces quietly watched or furtively participated. This happened in
1950! Some “revelation!” Nazis and fascists do this all the time,
“officially” slaughter people. The U.$. did this for years in Korea,
Vietnam, Europe, Africa, South America - many, many places
throughout the world, and continues to do so. But, we've rarely
executed people by ditches. We train others to do that and we
kill anonymously from the air, dropping bombs and poison gas,
melting, burning and exploding our victims. But, this doesn't
count as a “massacre” see? In fact, since Kosovo, carpet
bombing Is now considered “humanitarian aid.”

‘The press bleats about “totalitarian” Cuba. Where’s Castro's
ditches full of bodles? They don't exist! Yet, in El Salvador,
Guatemala, Nicaragua, Argentina, Chile, Columbia - you name it
in Central and South America, hundreds of thousands of people
have been tortured, butchered, murdered, “disappeared” and
massacred by U.$.-trained forces of these sweatshop catering
“fledgling democracies.” Lies! Murder! Enormous lies!! Decades
of mass murder!! The typical U.$. citizen is as politically aware
as a mental patient sleepwalking to get his daily dose of haldol,
thorazine, prozac and the colorful assortment of sedatives. We're
political zombles!! Have a cigarette!

Another obscene thing s the parrot talk of “freedom” here in
the U.$. Freedom to do what? To be a whore to your own life,
that's what! Freedom to eat sugar, become obese and die
ignorant! If you have a conscience or happen to possess
protective melanin, expect to be clubbed, gassed and jailed! If
you're a capitalist, you have the freedom to exploit labor and

rape mother Earth. You have the freedom to be evil.

For most folks, freedom consists of a boring, life-stultifying
job, worry, allenation, heartache, despair and lots and lots of
television. The ideas of freedom are kept well hidden, mocked,
scorned, ridiculed and lied shamelessly about. Allowed ideas are
vomitted out of the mouths of sexist pigs on radio and fascist
fools in newspapers. Everything including the air, water and soil
has a price tag on it. Prison eternally beckons. Enjoy your
fucking “freedom!” You'll find it inside a hydrogen bomb.

We have a lot of words and phrases that we all use and
accept. These have been defined for us, but they serve the
state and shepherd us into mental mazes that imprison our
ability to understand the world around us and keep our
questioning to a minimum. They are repeated over and over
by almost all the media. The effect is that we accept as
legitimate - kind of like some major religions - elaborate
fantasies

Words like “minoritie
kinds of people who aren't “white.” It immediately makes a
major division between people based on small variances of the
skin pigment melanin. One twenty-fifth of an ounce of
melanin separates the most translucent albino from the
darkest Afrikan. “Minor” means insignificant, unimportant,
Tesser or below legal adult age. These insinuations are all
false! “White" people are the “minority” in this world! But,
we're only supposed to care about this country.

Geé, I wonder how “Native Americans” became so low in
numbers? How did Mexicans become “foreigners?” Driven out
of the Southwest due to organized violence, perhaps? The
“majority” - the "whites” came here as invaders, despoilers,
colonizers, murderers - and slavers. Other light-skinned
immigrants came later and were bludgeoned into acceptance of
white racist culture, privilege, dominance, the white-washing
of history, acceptance of capitalism, etc. There's your
“normalcy” and your “white majority!”

c “Blacks” aren't black and “whites” aren’t white! And what's
an “other?” It's ridiculous! White means pure and clean and
all that nonsense. Black means dirty, sinister, evil, etc. Where
do “white people” come from, anyway? Whiteland? Where is

*. that? Up near Lapland or something? I know Greeks are

descended from Greece and the Irish people trace their lineage

back to Ireland. But, “white people???”” What is that? Some
sort of aryan, blond, blue-eyed thing? s

Now “black people” at least we know were torn from Africa,
somewhere, which doesn’t exactly narrow it down much. It's
ridiculous to call darker-skinned people in this country “black”
a8 people from Africa are the most genetically diverse people
on Earth! To label the descendants of slaves in this country as
“blacks” whitewashes all their diverse heritage into a “white
people” - like nebulousness. It's a fundamental obscenity of
language and thinking and it's high time people stop thinking
of themselves as “white” or “black.” Neither type of person
actually exists!

‘What are “laws?” Natural laws, like gravity, are constant,
expected and relied upon phenomenon that can be logically
explained, predicted, measured, etc. American laws are
anything but logical, consistent or dependable. They change
all the time, are enforced based on class and race and are often
interpreted by the caprice of power-tripping police,
prosecutors, judges and jailers.

Everything's like that! “Theft,” “crime,” “murder” - it only
applies to individuals, almost invariably “poor” and “minority.”
If you go into a 7-11, steal bread and shoot the clerk, that's
theft, crime and murder (and rightfully s0.) But, if you bomb
the piss out of a country and kill dozens and hundreds of
children and other “civilians,” that's “foreign policy” with its
unavoidable “collateral damage” which is totally “justifiable”
when meekly questioned.

“Foreign affairs” sounds like some unfortunately necessary
dealings “we” must untertake with uneducated, unsavory and
morally depraved “foreigners,” who we're constantly providing

“aid” to. In fact, big business and military criminals (major,
international, U.S.-based criminals!) flit about the world
raping natural resources from the ground, poisoning the air,
water and soil, plundering all types of resources, militarizing
oppressive regimes (brutal to the locals, but toadying to the
U.$) “We” also inflict our debased, consumerist culture on
them, as we rob them of their indigenous culture, languages,
childhoods, futures, etc. It's the “white man’s burden” with a
modern-day pr spin to body bag over “our” mass, daily crimes.

And how about our “defense?” What are we “defending??"
Who's attacking “US?" We're armed to the gills to keep the /&
concentrated wealth stolen from the four corners of the world
(on the backs of labor) right where it is - in surreal

“ concentrations, mainly in the U.$., controlled by the white
(obscenely) rich.

The economy is “prosperous.” This means, of course, the
yawwing dichotomy between destitute poor and do-nothing
billionaire rich, is widening and accelerating, insanely.
“American Democracy” means the corporate buying and selling
of interchangeable democrats and republicans, who may very
well possess smarmy egos and unctious ambitions, but harbor
nary a shred of genuine integrity, as they've signed on 100% to

militarized capitalism, with its institutional racism, sexism,
genocidal governmental warmongering, death-squad regime
training, arming and propping up and 8o on. That's our “right
to choose” folks! .

And those of us who oppose this post-Hitlerian frenzy of

international plundering, bloodletting, subjugation and

" universal no-think are, of course, “anarchists” bent on
“anarchy.” To almost everybody, this means pointless violence,
destruction, hedonism, chaos, debauchery, madness etc. This
is pretty much the opposite of what anarchism really entails.

What's the difference between a home decorated with
human skin lampshades and a bourgeois person festooned with
a sweatshop, designer-made outfit and footwear? Hitler
demonized his “enemies” domestically and abroad, gassed, beat
and shot them, dragged them off to prison (and slave labor)
bombed civilians, choked countries’ economies, starved
children, squashed cultures, imposed Germanic “culture” on
those it could, and thought of themselves as the most
wonderful thing the world had yet to be blessed with. The

A sight I really enjoy seeing, is a
broken down limo, by the side of the road.
Hopefully, some fat, rich fucker is
punching his cell phone with his pudgy,

The demonization of “the idea”
(anarchism) is being waged with a
vengeance. Mainstream cartoonists and
columnists are depicting protesters
(“rioters”) as wild-eyed hedonists with
nothing to say, bent on mindless
destruction, spoiled offspring of the
liberal bourgeoisie, etc.

The more reactionary don’t even
attempt to grope their way through their
hardened ignorance about what “anarchism”
actually entails and blanket condemn all
protesters as criminals, who for some
reason “want” to be shot, gassed, clubbed
and so forth.

The forces of suppression - the Darth
Vader goon squads on the streets, the
detectives, the infiltrators and gulag
thugs - are all being fully equipped and
given carte blanche to indulge their
sadistic impulses on these social vermin.

The left-leanin’ liberals, pinkos and
soft anarchists are similarly bleating
their disapproval, shaking their fingers
(ala a captive Elian) and scurrying to
distance themselves and disavow any

Greetings. Thanks for inviting me here today to speak to
you. First, T want to give a brief overview of the situation in
this country and then T want to read you letters written by
two women, one who does have protective melanin in her skin
pigment and one who does not. In this racist country, that's

What I see going on in this country is serious class war. Tt
is war on the citizens from the top down. You know the
saying, *the rich get richer and the poor go to prison.” Tt's all
too true. Over two million people are now incarcerated in
increasingly Dantesque conditions in a wildly expanding gulag
archipelligo. It's a profit-driven punishment industry. These
are mostly poor people of color. One in ten black men in
America, lives in a cell. One in tenll It's a system based on
greed, coersion, lies, racism, sexism, cruelty and indeed
ecocide and genocide of people, plants and animals. It's a war
on life itself

That's why you saw the explosion in Seattle of young
peaple battling the Dorth Vader goon squads with nothing but
their sense of morality and justice. Oh sure, the press

reported on the “violent protests” and “riots” when it was in
fact, the police who were ardered to shoot, beat and gas
innocent, non-violent protesters. In Washington, the blackout
was on. Well over twice as many people were arrested in
Washington - 1,300, as in Seattle, and the beatings, gassings
and shootings were not shown. They raided meeting areas
beforehand - like something out of Pinochet's Chile.

Last weekend, I was at a mass rally and march in support
of Mumia Abu-Jamal. Only the Chicago Defender reported on
it. The police attacked us on horseback! The mainstream
media is completely oblivious to this reality and dutifully
parrots what the government and corporations want them to,
as if they are listening to General Schwartzkoff.

There's a growing and serious movement of opposition, on a
scale not seen since the Vietnam War days, to challenge this
evil system. Articulate analysis, the lightning quick
communications and organizing afforded by the internet and a
commitment to struggle with a courage and dedication
surpassing that of the sixties is beginning to grow, amidst
increasing repression. Tt's very dangerous to be an activist.

Concommitently, a fear, a compartmentalization and @
brainwashing of most citizens on all things political is also
happening. Racism and sexism is on the increase, as is
homophabia, immigrant-bashing, etc. A polarization is
occurring for what many see as a looming battle. The job T
have assumed is to educate people in no uncertain terms about
the reality that we are facing to empower and inspire more
people into serious activism. The future of our children hangs
in the balance. We must fight like there’s no tomorrow.

T am not a libertarian. I am an anarchist. I don't think the
“rule of law” is anything but a cover for massive crimizality and - ¢f
legalized, highly organized theft and violence.

In a thoroughly sick society, many people act in a self-destructive,
addictive and sometimes harmful to others, manner. Kidnapping them
and sentencing them to long, arbitrary, oblivious to guilt or innocence,
sentences, heavily weighted as to race and the ability to pay lawyers, is
criminal. Warehousing them in a hopeless, brutal environment,
complete with assault, rape, deprivation, slave labor, hopelessness, etc.
is all the more criminal.

No matter how many millions you imprison, “criminal” behavior as
defined by the breaking of “laws" will not cease.

‘The system of capitalism is based on theft. The theft of labor, the
rape of the environment, the thef of life of foreigners who challenge
“our” markets.

‘You can never talk reason into a system strung out on the lust for
more - they're beyond greedy - they're crack addicts and their crack is
‘money and power.

As the U.S. military government escalates into WWIIL, the nazis at
‘home will accelerate the repression of the domestic citizenry, and
increasingly, cattle-car young blacks and other youths into their wildly
expanding gulag system.

The only “law” I have much respect for in this unfolding spectacle is
that all such evil empires meet an ignominious, yet thoroughly
deserved, complete demise. Sickeningly, the slaughtering of innocenta
in vastly increased. In fact, America’s downfall may very well drag
down all life forms on this Earth!

Solidarity in Everyday Life

I'm an anarchist who believes in solidarity. To
me, this means, I can and should work with anybody who
is willing to work on a project, be they anarchists,
communists, socialists, 1iberatarians, democrats,
republicans - whatever. Some projects aren't
anarchist, such as the grassroots airport fight

I'm involved with, which I'll talk about next.

But I am an anarchist, who lives in the community -
not isolated from it. I try to infuse the fight

with anarchist determination and clearsightedness,

but do not feel compelled to wave the black flag. I
think anarchists should try to relate with people of
all political bellefs - even the nazis. Anarchy is for
everybody which anarchists must share openly and freely.

These communities - Monee, Peotone, Crete and Beecher
have been around since the mid-1800's. Crete was founded in
1836, Peotone in 1856. What about our communities? We've
already suffered enormously, because of this airport. The
uncertainty, the dread - it never endsl Our property values
have suffered, our relationships have suffered... Children
have given up living out here and carrying out the family
traditions because of it, divorces have occurred and so have
nervous breakdowns!
Frustration, rage, anger apathy - we a// feel it! Should we
build that addition? Should we fix the roof or repair the ¢,
barn? Should we even plow the fields??

Does anybody ever tell us the truth about what is going on?
Hell nol Who owns the land out here? We don't know! It'sa
checkerboard of blind land trusts. All we hear is the pro-
airport propaganda - paid for by Illinois taxpayer money. We
even see our own local politicians selling us out to business
interests, land developers, construction companies and other
‘sprawl mongers!

What about our children? How are they gonna learn in
school or play outside and ride their bikes? Where are we
gonna live with anywhere near the livability or location as this?
How are we supposed to even breathe the air or hear

airlines don't want to come down here. All they see is red inkl
Why dor't you use the airports you already have??? I'm
talking about Gary-Chicago, Milwaukee, Rockford and even
Kankakee. These are Midway-sized airports north, south, east
and west that are hardly being used and have capacity to
expand. There are other alternatives, too, such as high speed
rail, commuter rail and freight rail. Wiping out prime
farmland, and building tens of miles of every type of
infrastructure necessary for another airport that airlines
won't use is a collosal waste of our resources. Have you
forgotten Mascoutah?

Acquire as much “open land” as possible at a tax sale, then you can

Ali Khalid Abdullah is a New Afrikan (Black) man who
believes in the principles and doctrines of Anarchism.
He is also the founder of a political organisation
called Political prisoners of War Coalition (PPWC),
Which he started in 1994/5 inside prison.

Ali has written a volume of materials touching on a
wide range of subjects. A 1ot of his work has alre
been printed in revolutionary magazines, 'zines and
papers, and he has pamphlets which ate availsble from
PPWC's Information Centre and other PPHC distributor:
The Anarchist Black Cross of Gent in Belgium produced
a booklet of some of his writings called: Prison
Weitings by ALi Khalid Abdullah. The same booklet has
been translated into French by the ABC-Dijon / Maloka

Judge just ruled (1) that I could present evidence of
first amendnent violatlons which are occurring in all
state prisons, and not just those which have been
inflicted upon me; and (2) T will be allowed to
Tepresent the claims of all 45,000 D.0.C. cons. What
this essentially means is if the evidence we present
in court convinces the judge that the D.0.C. has
violated our rights, any remedy he may fashion will
apply to every state prison and not just the one I'n
confined in. The state argued that each con should
have to file a separate lawsuit, but the court rejected
that motion.

Our next court date is Sept. 27th, at that time
2 decision 15 supposed to be made regarding evidence
presentation. I'll keep you informed.

What I'd like to do 1s write a desrciptive dissortation
outlining how my years of exposure to the system

turned a very apolitical person into a tasmanian devil
with a pen. Going back to the early '70's, I'd show
the first timid steps I took to challenge this
bureaurocracy - an ultimately successful challenge

to get tape players into Stateville. I'd explain

how I've gained the knowledge to beat these folks at
their own game - I could descibe my successes and
fallures since then, while laying out an outline or
blueprint which anyone could follow. Ve could also
teach the basics of writing grievances and preparing
Court of Claims lawsuits for lost property, etc.

On a nore personal note, one issue I'd like to
address 1s identity loss. What I mean by that is this.
I was 18 when I came in the system, and I just turned
51. If they opened the front door and kicked me out
tomorrow, I really don't know where I'd fit in. For
example, after all these years, all my old friends
have moved on with their lives. Though I'm in quite
food shape and youthful enough to pasn for a younger
are, T doubt I'd want to hang out with tha young
crowd 'cause our value systems, foals, dreans and
anpirations just aren't the same. Nor can I identify
ith the older generation all that well...most folks
ny age are already grandparents, and have decades of
menories to reflect upon. When I look back, most of
the stuff I recollect are like scenes out of Shawshank
Redemption; not exactly what you'd want to sit around
and discuss at a friendly social gathering... After
all this time, I almost feel like Rip Van Winkle, 'cept
one who has seen the world passing by, yet couldn't
interact with it.

T hope what I've just said doesn't sound maudlin,
1t's simply something I've thought about quite a bit
recently. Ferhaps it's only an incarnation of the
age-old question "who am I?" Usually T can resolve
the questions I encounter, but this has me stumped.

Well, Anthony, that's about it... if you like
my ideas, let me know and I'll start writig. If
on the other hand, it doesn't sound too noteworthy

Hope you're OK. Thanks for your letter and
the readables. Yeah, it certainly made a change to
get ITT #4. You could go crazy trying to find any
logic to the things they do in here. They seem to
make 'policy’ on the flip of a coin.

4ith the exception of a few good individuals, who
actually resigned in disgust from the ABC ‘Network' here
18 months or so ago, the ABC here have done fuck all
for years - Except misuse the funds raised for the
direct support of prisoners, to prop up an irregular,
irrelevant and frankly shit vanity publication. Of
course, there will never be any genuine commitment
to prisoners, or to the struggle in general, from
nmiddle-class part-tine liberals who dabble their toes
in the 'movement' while keeping a foot firmly planted
in Munmy and Daddy's bank account. Since the prospect
of themselves or any of their middle-class revolutionary
friends ever needing the support of an effective prison-
ers solidarity movement is about nil, they have no
vested interest in building one. As always their
involvement is in fact entirely destructive.

I'm still being kept isolated at Woodhill, and
expect to be moved again, shortly. Apparently, they're
fult running out of prisons that will take me! haybe
Lif T get thrown out of a few more, they'll have to let
me go! My next destination will be sent out by e-mail
once I actually arrive there.

had happened and Mark was subsequently found guilty of
“baricading a cell door.” The result being that he will

In their eagemess fo rush this process fhrough, HMP Long
Lartin have acted uniawfully thoughout, withholding
evidence from the prisoners' lawyers which would show
cleariy that Mark and the ofher prisoners were in fact
locked in a cell and then beaten by screws. In the long
ferm, we are confident that this guilty verdict il be
overtumed and the widespread brutality and systematic
li-treatment of prisoners at Long Lartin exposed.

Bombs #7 or #8. | would enjoy receiving them; your political
commentaries, satires, and observations nourish my
anarcho spirit and energize my need to participate in this
resistance. When | read your zine | instantly need to grab a
pen and begin rants of my own. You inspire me friend.

Todd Keyser is an awesome individual, activist and
dedicated loyalist, as well as an amazing integral friend of
mine. I'm glad you enjoyed “Remember Brian”, | did as well,
| thought the zine turned out top notch D.LY.! Thank you for
your observations of my artile and words of
encouragement. The remembrance of Brian Deneke and
the message of his murder by discrimination Is important to
me. | recently had a small graveyard scene tattooed on my
right arm and Brian's initials grace a tombstone. As far as
my honest approach, to the extent of admittance of sick
truth, my tumn from hater to healer has been possible only
through the embrace of BRUTAL FUCKIN' TRUTH and
utmost honesty in all aspects of my past actions and the
gross distinction between the man who looks in the mirror
today, eyes full of extreme compassion and dedication, and
the confused and angry, pain-ridden boy | was. | must paint
a portrait of who | used {0 b, to prove the power of change,
and the definition of hate. It the community rejects me for
letting it all hang out, but | reach one young, fucked-up,
confused, angry scenester and help spare his/her life from
involvement in the ignorance of racial intolerance every word
and action becomes justified ~ this is personal opinion. This
is why | write how | do. If real is painful, it is also powerful.
Honesty is respectable, and | feel as | owe it to this scent,
this underground, this resistance, o represent self-
expression, through individuality of momentous magnitude —
anti-reputation, self character assassination, soul baring that
may be shocking but speak in a voice 100 loud to ignore —
and screams a message of hope, equality, tolerance,
solidarity, revolution, and courage to the generations of
wasted youth yearning for voices to listen to and a direction
to focus their abilities to raze like no past generations. | feel
accountable to the kids, the hurt, scared, mad, hated, hating,
lost, suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, violent, passive, children
of the nations, programmed by a society that will devour
them. | want them to know TRUTH and embrace the power
of applying truth to one’s life. You touch me with your words
of comradery and affection; | am the proud one to be
counted as one in the company of a profound activist as
yourself. You teach me. | leam. | write to teach another.

1 just returned from the prison “hospital", | was “out of
commission” for a few weeks, behind a hemia operation. |
took the opportunity to quit smoking, my last chemical
habitual vice, so @ category | could fall in, if | was one to
label, would be that straight edge thing. | will never preach
that message however, sometimes drugs are vital for
people. For me, they dominated and destroyed and rob me

Although I've remained abreast of the critical issues of the
day as articulated by the many talented writers and comrades
throughout the state, it has been awhile sinmce I've
contributed anything to this medium myself. (Note: Zaid is
referrring to the Voice of Indiana’s Political Prisoner’s, which
is an incredible newsletter written by Indiana prisoners that
comes out monthly, editted in Denmark and sent to me for
domestic distribution.) Brother Obam's article “General
Thoughts of Concern” was piece that really caught my eye
and inspired me to write this, because his general thoughts of
concern are a reflection of my own.

January 2001 will make ten years straight of being confined
on these segregation and maximum control units, unless I am
fortunate enough to get off between then and now. Despite the
excessive amount of time in which I've been segregated, it
hasn’t been all bad. As Brother Obam pointed out, back in the
day the revolutionary and progressive mentalities were the
dominant mentalities on the seg units and despite the more
restricted confinement on these seg units, the brotherhood and
comraderie and constructive growth that was enjoyed is an
experience that was a beautiful thing. An experience that was
realized in the face of all the brutal repression. From ths
gas to the countless lock downs and vicious cell extractio

T've been fortunate in that throughout practically my entire
segregation experience which spans over a period of 18 years,
T've been blessed with being in the presence of good solid
conscious brothers. Even on sets like MCC which has
transformed into an ultra reactionary and safe haven for
counter-revolutionary racists to demonstrate their cage
courage. There was always enough of us with the ability to kill
a lot of the nonsense that might otherwise persist without our
presence. Even during instances where things got out of hand
we kept our politics in command and were able to put a proper
perspective on things. When I think of MCC, I think of Bro.
Atim Malik's poem “The Masquerade.” So many people are
hiding behind a mask, from the pig to the prisoner, black and
white.

In April of 1999, when I left MCC and landed on 1.D.U., the
raw reality of just how backward or should I say stagnant our
progress with the younger generations have become. The 74
language that a lot of these young people use is so offensive
and assaultive to my ears, primarily because I haven't heard
this language used in such massive numbers since I was on the
street. It seems like the prison movement has been set back 15
years here in indiana. While I believe that there are more
conscious prisoners in indiana than back in the day, we are for
the most part isolated on these various units and scattered out.
So, I was really feeling brother Obam’s frustrations, because
some of those same contradictions are playing themselves out
on this front. And I agree with trhe brother 100% when he
says that the conscious must support the conscious whenever
or where ever possible, because we truly do represent a
minority enduring an opposing windstorm as the brother put
it. But if you have comrades or so-called comrades who dislike
one another for petty and personal reasons it makes our efforts
that much more difficult under these cireumstances. There’s
just no time or place for that kind of folly in this movement.

‘There seems to be a tremepdous task at hand and while my
commitment is no less than what it has always been, I've
reached a point in my overall prison experience where
circumstances dictate that I be more selfish in terms of the
choices that I make and the risks that I take. I've been
through the fire and I've smelled the stench of my own burnt
flesh and trying to navigate my way through this mess and
secure my exit has become a number one priority of mine. But
beyond that, this is not to say that I have distanced myself
from whatever responsibilities that I have or contributions
that I can make. I think that there’s no excuse that a
politically conscious individual can give for refusing to initiate
or participate in a study group where ever they can be formed,
especially on a D/S or A/S unit. On a population setting I
imagine it would be different because any time we congregate

Dear Anthony -

Hey. I hope things are going well with you.

Not eo here - big trouble in little China. I
come in from the yard yesterday evening and a pig says
"Go up to M0S (security station) tp pick up a ticket."
So I can't think of anything I may have gotten written
up for. Usually they tell you when you are going to
receive a conduct report, like if they find a tattoo
gun in your room or else they'll take you directly to
the hole, 1tke if you get in a fight.

S0 I'm fucked up, racking my brain., I get there
& see a fat Hajor (there are Major and minor conduct
reports) C.R. waiting for me. That's right. I'm
charged with “false Names and Titles" and "Enteprises
and Fraud"!! I've been under investigation since

being sent to my buddy Eric in here. The titket says
that because I'm identified as an Editor I'm guilty of
using "False Names and Titles,” and that I “engaged in
a business” (and they say that it doesn't matter
whether I'm profitting or,not?!) by having $TW0$ -
Free to Prisoners, on the cover.

Now today, I went up to the law library and I've
been talking to a lot of guys who know their shit
(sonewhat) regarding (303.31) - the institution code
for crimes "False lNanes & Titles," the rule is intended
to protect members of the public from being misled by an
inmate concering his/her identity or status & to avoid
conf-sion of staff members concerning identity of
inmates.” I wasn't deceiving anyone - I clearly stated
that I was a prisoner and an editor, and I was an
editor - T editted collected works, including my own.
So, that's bullshit. It's meant for people who claim
to be Reverends or FhD' doctors, etc.

About (303.32) “Enterprises & Fraud" it says

(when I say "1t" I mean the Administrative Codes - a’
set of meanings & info about the rules - when they
should be inplemented & why) "the purpose of this
section is threefold: to prevent inmates who set-up
business from taking advantage of any members of the
public; to prevent any state liability upon contracts
entered into by inmates; & to prevent fraud on the
public by inmates who order items & do not pay." But
it goes on to say that inmates are prohibited from bein
involved in "business” affairs because it would be a
lot of mail and monitoring. So, that's illegal. But,
was I involved in a "business?" The rule is pretty
vague and left to be interpreted by the Hasters, so
I'm sure I'11 be found guilty.

Isn't this fucked! It could warrant time in
segregation, extension of MR (release date) and plenty
of other fun punishments. I guess I sort of feel
righteous. HNot that I even did anything huge, but to
be punished for speaking the truth and calling the
authority and existing order into repute is something
I've never experienced. Read about it tons of times
and now I'm feeling it, not that it's comparable to
Humia or the HOVE 9 or Ray Luc Levasseur, but you know.

What you can do to help is send letters. They
might have coples of our correspondence so there's no
use in lying - not that you'd have to. Just let them
know that:

1. I had originally contacted you, asking if you'
be interested in publishing Hope Kill

2. That I made no money and had no intention of
profitting - neither did you, this was not the goal.

3. That I was the Editor, as that is what I did -
collect my writings and those of others, and edit then.

4. That we didn't have any "business" deals - I
entered into no contracts of any kind. I had nothing
to do with the publication. I made suggestions and
asked that you mail it to certain people, and that is
all. Tt wasn't my show.

5. The function & goals T had, we had, with H. K.
that of education, equality, improvement, etc.

So, if you can, write (type) a letter up with all
that. Hake sure you say it's regarding me, saying that
1t must be a misunderstanding regarding a misconduct
report T recently received. Send a copy to me, a copy

to our Warden, Judy Smith, and to the Security 73

Director, Todd Timm. That would be great if you could
help. kan, this is fucked. If you have time to write,

Yo it is indeed screwed-up. I will do all I
can - all that you've asked and whatever else I can
think of. What I'm thinking of is thisi Send your
letter to Doug Holland, who does a real good zine
review guide out of Frisco. He prints a lot of
freedon of speech violation type stuff and he should
print this. Also, I'll call my brother, who is &
pathologist 1iving in Appleton, WI near you. He and
his Wife were involved in environmental struggles
up there recently. He can get me in contact with the
ACLU &/or other prisoner support groups in your area.
I'11 send it to other publications, put it in my sin

once was anyone else ever ticketed for then. Zines
& letters have been denied, etc. but not because the

My name Is Anthony Rayson and | run the South Chicago
ABC Zine Distro. | publish and distribute these works (zines)
as a way 1o get information fo people who cannot find it
from mainstream publication sources. Basically. the
publishing of zines is 10 this country what the samizdiat press
was to the communist Soviet Union.

1 specialize in helping prisoners publish and distibute their
wiiling, poetry, artwork, efc. It's a completely d.i.y. (do - it
yourself) unfunded, non-profit, labor of love endeavor. |
lose alot of money. doing all of this. I think it's important
!that prisoners be allowed to be given their own voice, as
they are so often demonized and misrepresented in fhis
country.

Josh Van Moorleghem #345993, wrote to me and askedt
it 1 would be interested in publishing @ zine about his
experiences and observations (and those of others) there o
Oshkosh Correctional Institution. Isaid that | would, but that
it would be @ money-losing situation, done strictly for
educational purposes. He understood this, as rying to
“make money" was never our goal or desire in this project.

Josh put his zine fogelher. So, he was indeed the
“Edilor.” Somelimes prisoners edil the entire zine and
somefimes they edit part of it or want to have me edil all of
it. But. | always do all the publishing and distribufing. There
was never any “business” end to any of thisl No "contracts
were enlered inlo. It was agreed fhat we would work
logether fo produce this zine, wilh him as the editor and me
the publisher and distributor. He gave me a short st of
people he would like fo see get a copy and | also sent it 1o

several people that | wanted fo have it read &/or reviewecdt
by.

You may not agree with the content of this publication,
but itis most certainly protected by the Bill of Rights in the
Conslitution. In fact, this is the first time a prisoner | have
worked with has been given any kind of a conduct report
ticke! for expressing his or her ideas - and I've collaborated
on dozens of zines with prisoners! This is very serious. It's a
freedom of speech issue and if's a censorship issue.

We can't allow such a precedent fo be set. | will be
walching this situation very closely and alerting civil rights
groups, prisoner suppor! groups and fellow publishers in and
out of the mainstream. concerning this ficke.
